In the 1970′s Texas mayor Tom Vanergriff has been trying to get a baseball team to play at the Metroplex for almost a decade. When Vanergriff offered Bob Short a multi-million dollar down payment he moved his baseball team to Arlington Texas where they became the Texas Rangers. It started on a very rocky road with numerous problems with security and rowdy fans. After improvements were made to the Turnpike Stadium it them became the Arlington Stadium. In the year 1974 the Texas Rangers finished second in the American League. They contintue to go on winning more games and having valuable team players. In the late 1970′s the team was very close to a playoff spot for the early 1980′s. However the Texas Rangers lost right before the player’s strike begin and would not have a winning record for another five seasons, not great for us betting our MLB Lines on our home team.

The weather was so hot in Texas it created attendance problems for the players. Arlington stadium was considered the hottest in the majors with temperatures soaring into the 100s during the summer. These temperatures created a change in the schedule as to when the players would play. To this day that change is still in place, with the team playing between and May and September at night.

From the late 1980′s to the early 1990′s Bobby Valentine was the manager. Under his management the Rangers remained in the race for the American League pennant the entire season. Only to come up second. In 1989 the team was purchased by George W. Bush Jr. He got together with investors abd purchased the team for $89 million dollars. During this time the Arlington Stadium was replaced with a new stadium funded by the public with an increase to sales tax. When Bush left to become governor of Texas, Kevin Kennedy became the new manager. But the strike ended what could have been the Rangers first division championship. Until 2008 the Rangers history was pretty much at the bottom of the totem pole. But in the late 2000′s the Rangers proved themselves by winning the first pennant in franchise history in front of a stadium filled home crowd.

Despite the many managers the Rangers have been through and the numerous injuries from their players they finally made it to the world series, however eventually losing that series to the Giants. Out of the four games the Rangers won once. In 2010 the Rangers were 2-4 overall for post season series.
